World News: Ukraine War and the First Lady of Ukraine

Last Sunday, I saw on 60 minutes an interview with the First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska. She is Ukraine's President- Volodymyr Zelensky's wife. It was riveting to listen to. She mostly spoke in Ukrainian with a translator and talking about the war in Ukraine, all of the damage, destruction and evil Russia and Putin's army has done these past 7 plus months. She was calm, poised, and serious.

She also declared that Russia has annexed a part of Ukraine, but she states that it will always be Ukraine to them, and they are supporting them.

The interviewer- Scott Pelley showed her some phots from around the U.S. of support of Ukraine by the flag or its colors (blue and yellow) being displayed in various places such as in front of homes, buildings, cars, etc... She was moved and touched to see these photos he brought.

It made me feel even more connected with this side of the world. Ukraine- and all its destruction, war, lives lost, fear and turmoil these past many months and Russia- with those who are in support of Ukraine and do not want anything to do with Putin's regime and also want to flee.

I think it's important to step into conflicts like this, as it makes our world a better place by being invested and knowledgeable about what's going on.

As for my Russian study, I learned on my own how to write Olena Zelenska's name in Russian. :)
